- During the fiscal year 2005-06, Punjab State Bus Stand Management Company Ltd. (PUNBUS) purchased and deployed 360 new buses using a loan of Rs. 40.00 Crore from Oriental Bank Of Commerce.

- It has 18 depots viz Chandigarh, Roopnagar, Ludhiana, Ferozepur, Moga, Jagraon, Nangal, Jalandhar-1, Jalandhar-2, Nawanshehar, Batala, Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Amritsar-1, Amritsar-2, Taran Taaran, Patti and Mukatsar.
- With 243 newly added buses equipped with state of the art GPS System, LED Bus Destination System and Electronic Ticketing System, PUNBUS blends economical travel with luxury, to provide the best public transport.
- FLEET STRENGTH WAS HIGHEST IN THE YEAR 1985 WHEN IT WAS 2407.
- AS NEW FLEET WAS NOT ADDED, THE FLEET STRENGHT STARTED DECREASING. THE LAST ADDITION TO FLEET THROUGH GOVERNMENT FUNDING WAS IN 1997-98 WHEN 534 BUSES WERE ADDED. NEW BUSES ARE NOW BEING ADDED IN PUNBUS.
- ITS OPERATING A VOLVO BUS ON AMRITSAR- LAHORE AND AMRITSAR NANKANA SAHIB ROUTE.THE BUS ON AMRITSAR LAHORE LEAVES FROM AMRITSAR EVERY TUESDAY AND RETURNS EVERY WEDNESDAY WHILE THE BUS ON AMRITSAR NANKANA SAHIB ROUTE LEAVES AMRITSAR EVERY FRIDAYAND RETURNS EVERY SATURDAY.

Is it still free for ladies?
Continuing with its populist scheme of free travel for women in the Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC), Punbus and Roadways, the government is mulling introducing a bus ticket management system. This will enable the government to have real-time data of beneficiaries.
Is it free for students?
School students are allowed to travel free in the buses of Punjab Roadways up to 10th class.
What is the rate of bus per km in Punjab?
With this hike, the travelling cost in an ordinary bus will be Rs 1.22 per kilometre against the previous Rs 1.16 per kilometre. The fare of HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) buses is Rs 1.46 per kilometre against previous Rs 1.39 per kilometre, which is 20% more than the ordinary buses.
Who frees bus fare in Punjab?
The scheme was started by Capt Amarinder Singh in April 2021. Under it, women can avail of free bus travel in government-owned buses.
